And down will come baby, cradle and all. Rock a bye baby, gently you swing,
Over the cradle, Mother will sing,
Sweet is the lullaby over your nest
That tenderly sings my baby to rest. From the high rooftops, down to the sea
No one's as dear as baby to me
Wee little hands, eyes shiny and bright
Now sound asleep until morning light Rock a bye baby, on the tree top,
When the wind blows the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks the cradle will fall,
And down will come baby
By : Taylor & Vanessa Class : 8A The story behind “Rock-a-Bye-Baby” is that the American’s were under the impression that the Native Americans were trying to kill their children. This is because they hung their children in hammocks and the hammocks were hanging in trees with the children in them. The American’s were just assuming that this is what the were trying to do. Rock-a-bye-baby was the American’s saying that the Natives rocked their children in trees and the hammocks fell down with the children in them. The American’s were scared that the Natives were trying to kill their children.
